Sarah Vernon is the 1950s alter ego of Mara who would later go by the names of Lucy Ripley and Audrey Parker.
She is the mother of James Cogan, and the mother-in-law of Arla Cogan.
Background[]
Sarah Vernon came to Haven in 1955 as an Army Nurse accompanying home Stuart Moseley, a traumatized war veteran. When arriving in Haven, she had a small romantic relationship with a time-travelled Nathan Wuornos, who, believing he may not return to Audrey Parker, consented to his own romantic attractions. Following this liaison, Sarah conceived their child, James Cogan.
Sarah would later reluctantly kill Roy Crocker in self-defense. She also helped Nathan return to his own time with the help of the Troubled man who sent him back into the past: Stuart. Shortly after, she decided to stay in Haven, and it is in this town where she gives birth to her son.
Sarah would meet and befriend Dave and Vince Teagues. She wouldn't tell anyone who James father was. At an unknown point, she would find out about the Hunter Meteor Storm and how she was supposed to go into The Barn.
She would give birth to James on August 31st, 1956, and would give him to June and Paul Cogan. June would promise Sarah that she would watch over James.
Before Sarah leaves, she, Vince and Dave would attempt to blow up the barn, but they were unsuccessful. She then admits to the brothers that James' father (whose identity she has told no one) wasn't even born yet. It is uncertain whether or not Sarah was aware that both men loved her, especially Vince.
Sarah would go into the barn sometime around October 13th.
